The Tangier Mediterranean Special Agency (TMSA) awarded the extension of the Tanger Med Port complex to the consortium BSTM-TMBYS.
The general scope of work included:
- The basic infrastructure of the port, particularly the main and secondary breakwaters, as well as the digging and dredging of the basins.
- Part of the operational infrastructure of the port including, the quay walls and foundations.
The project was split into two different phases, with the first phase involving the construction of most of the protection breakwaters, as well as a container terminal (TC4).
Within the consortium, BSTM (Besix-Somagec) was responsible for the construction of TC4’s 1,200 m long quay walls, the dredging works in the harbour basin and reclamation area and TMBYS (Bouygues-Saipem-Bymaro) had to construct the main and secondary breakwaters. Boskalis International worked as a subcontractor for BSTM. DEME worked as a subcontractor for TMBYS.
